Discovery Bay is an inlet and town located in the northern part of the island near the town of Rio Bueno. It was once thought of to be the first place in Jamaica that Christopher Columbus set foot, but with historians declining the statement, it is now a popular tourist destination. Columbus Park, a museum in the town of Discovery Bay, holds Colonial artifacts found in the Discovery Bay area. A town surrounds the inlet with two sides to it. One side is for residential homes and resorts as well as popular Puerto Seco Beach, and the other side for Kaiser Bauxite Company wharf (bauxite being one of Jamaica’s top exports) and the Columbus Park museum. Although the history is false, Discovery Bay is a popular tourist attraction for the Colonial influence and fun atmosphere.
